Anne Vilsbølls navn er i Danmark såvel som i udlandet forbundet med papirmageri og papirkunst, inden for hvilken disciplin V. har undervist, udgivet bøger, arrangeret udstillinger og lagt et stort organisatorisk arbejde. V. har formået at hævde sig som en følsom bruger af papiret både ved indfarvningen og ved bemalingen af det, hvilket har resulteret i adskillige meget poetiske værker, bl.a. billedserien Conversations with Georgia O'Keeffe, inspireret af mødet med den nu afdøde amerikanske maler. Disse arbejder giver på udmærket vis essensen i V.s kunstneriske metode. Hun registrerer den farvetone, de former, den arkitektur, det landskab og den stemning, der har omgærdet personen og omsmelter det til en række nonfigurative konstruktioner, der måske kan siges at lægge sig i formsproglig forlængelse af Serge Poliakoffs bløde geometri. V. har udført en række vellykkede rumudsmykninger i f.eks. Skæring Kirke og Vingsted Centret.

“The mission of Hand Papermaking 25
is to celebrate the twenty-fifth
anniversary of Hand Papermaking and speak to the history and the
future of hand papermaking, both the publication and the field of
paper art.
Because of Anne Vilsbølls important
contributions, her extraordinary
achievements, and her past participation in the publication, she have
been selected to represent the year 1990.”
Invited to participate in a celebratory historical book alongside other professionals within the field :
"We would like for you to create a 1000 paper samples 4” x 4”(this equates to 41 sheets at 18 x 24”) to be placed within this celebratory historical book alongside other professionals within the field. The book will be available for sale fall of 2010 and proceeds will go to supporting the magazine and the future of hand papermaking. In exchange for your generous contribution we will send you a copy of the book."
